Fernando Pessoa (1888-1935) was a Portuguese poet, writer and literary critic and described as one of the most significant literary figures of the 20th century and one of the greatest Portuguese poets. While living in Lisbon, Café A Brasileira is where he was often found enjoying absinthe while continuously smoking, reading or writing. In 1988, the café placed a bronze statue of the poet outside – which is now a photo opp for tourists. Filipe wanted to honor Pessoa at Port-O Lounge and commissioned an artist to create a similar statue.
